Thanks, Jeff. That is an easy one to set up. I have added Bob and John's two to the database. For those who don't have Microsoft Excel, there is a reader for free to open and view it.

The database file is here:

It would be interesting to see a spread on a graph, or some sort of "prediction" chart based on the thicknesses of bass necks that would give you like, the average thickness of necks from any given year, or something. Unless that's already in there. I haven't checked yet!

Neat idea, to make it useful for a purchaser of older Ricks, but there's not enough data yet.

Someone should bring calipers to MARF II so we can do an on site girth measuring clinic!

I have added Kevin's bass, and also added a sheet with the RIC acronyms on it.

Calipers won't measure girth, but a metric tape measure would.

True, what I mean't is we should have tools to measure instruments to add to this database, whether they be tape measures, calipers, etc.

Calipers would add to the front/back measurement table. What an opportunity. I am really wishing I could be at MARF II..... and it's still months away!

I'll bring calipers to MARF. We can use string to check the girth and then scale that with the calipers.

That sounds a little cumbersome, Kevin. If you're going to MARF, email your address to me and I'll send you a measuring tape. I think I have an extra one.

It wouldn't be that big of deal, but the tape would be easier. My tape seems to produce results that are larger than what may be expected though.

I just had a great idea!
Everyone can send their basses to me, and I can measure the neck profile in my lab and provide a 3-D model of each!
We can all pick the best profile and then send the model to RIC and they can use it to program the CNC machine! Image
