No, it's a real Hofner for sure; the correct pickups are laying in the case of scraps left over from the smashing show The Who gave on that particular night. I'm with Larry in that the finish was stripped, tuners changed and the controls were fiddled with to an extent.
The toasters laying on the Hofner are from Pete's Rickenbacker 1993. I've identifed this particular 1993 as one that Pete had done previous damage to prior to destroying it as we see it in the link with all the parts inside the case.
There are many large holes that I can see in what remains of the Rickenbacker's peghead...these are from bolts and pieces of flat metal used to keep the peghead together from a previous bout with Pete ripping into it. There are pics of this 1993 with all the extra metalwork on it, I'll try to find them and post one.......Pete is wearing his Union Jack coat, anybody know of the pic I speak of???
