Bass Rigs.........

Picture captured from an old video from 1989.
I used to play my 80's Rubyglo 4003 through a Fender Bassman 100 back in the late 80's and early 90's.Both had to go when I hit hard times. But thanks to the internet and a better financial situation,I'm looking to replace the Fender and get a 4005 to play through it.As some may know the front of the 4x12 Bassman cab can be prised out,and I used to cover mine sometimes with a Union Jack flag which seemed very 'The Jam/The Who' at the time LOL.

I don't have any good pics of my MTI SVT and custom 4x10/1x15 SVT cabinet yet, but I will. I also need to get some pics of my Sunn 200S and 2000S and my custom rear-loaded and ported 1x15/2x5(with crossover) cabinet for the Sunns. One of these days I suppose....
Chris, you said your cabinets have alnico speakers? Are those the old alnico CTS speakers? How many watts are those cabinets? Ted Weber was supposed to be doing a clone of those and I was going to get some for my 4x10/1x15 cabinet to replace the Eminence ones, but I don't think he has them done yet.
Jared, how do you like that Sovtek bass amp? I thought about getting one of those for awhile until they discontinued them.....

Thanks Chris. What do those CTS alnicos sound like as compared to the current Eminence 10's or the later 70's SVT cabinets? I've never heard or played one myself.
Jared, thats the same story with my Sovtek MIG50H Midget. They're supposed to sound like a JCM 800 Marshall, but they're only in the same ballpark hiding somewhere in the dugout behind the water cooler with gum and sunflower seeds stuck to them.

Let's hear it for light weight mini rigs- this rack is 17lbs, the 1x12 is 29lbs, the RBI takes you to the next level, just ask Geddy.
Oh, you want that B string to feel like you're getting hit by a bus? Here's two more 12's and another 300 watts to add to the mini rig.

Its in the '70s today here in my part of Ohio, so I got a chance to get out in the garage and straighten up a bit. This is the amp I use when doing setups and just feel like fooling around outside in the summer. Hartke Kickback 10.
120 watts into a single 10" aluminum cone speaker, shape button, XLR line out, phone jack. Excellent sounding little amp, surprisingly big sounding for its size.
I highly recommend them.

Hey Greg...
To answer your question about comparing the CTS alnico speaker to the later 70's ceramic...
The alnico is much warmer...punchier and louder..ALso they have better high end.. Basically the alnico wins in every catagory...
You can hear a volume drop when going from the alnico cab to the ceramic cab, when doing an A-B test with amp settings un-touched...
The alnico is more musical sounding ...
