Whoa! Thanks everybody for making me feel less nerdy about my Dr. Who knowledge.
Seems like a lot of us are of similar age. My oldest brother loved stuff like Fireball XL5. I was always creeped-out by marionettes, so I wasn't into those shows. The song and opening bit for Space Car are worth the price of admission, however. My idea of torture in the sixties probably had something to do with being forced to watch Howdy Doody.
I doubt that many kids' shows from the sixties would be terribly watchable for me anymore, but I still love Rocky and Bullwinkle. I would even like to see the Banana Splits (I'm just sure they played their own instruments!- not!) I wonder if I would just worry about my younger self if I saw some of the shows I liked. There was Mr. Terrific and Captain Nice, My Mother The Car, I should stop now. Really liked the Monkees and the Paul Revere and the Raiders show.

I always liked the stations going off the air, when they used to do that!, that chose to show the video poem of "High Flight" with the F104 Starfighter. That was what sent me off to sleep a happy lad many a night.

Usually accompanied by The Star Spangled Banner. I remember that. Now they don't sign off, they just run infomertials all night..... And people watch.

I neglected to mention my deep appreciation for the original Batman TV series. I even named my band after a "character" in a scene in the original Batman movie.

That was standard tv writing even through the 70s and early 80s.

Wow, Diver Dan!! I remember sitting in front of the tube early on Saturday AMs during the mid '60s watching re-runs of that show and then afterwards, watching Beanie & Cecil. I loved Bob Clampett 'toons; still do! I'm also a huge Jay Ward fanatic.
