Oh man, it's tough to be a Leafs fan! Islanders game just ended-I was hoping the Leafs could at least grab a point so that the Habs/Leafs could go all the way to a shoot-out if need be. Gotta take a bigger perspective on these things anyway (spoken like a true Leafs fan) - I don't think the Leafs, Habs, or Isles are going to make it past the first round anyway.

And, of course, my mantra - we'll get 'em next year....

It's tough to be a Leafs fan....

Did you get to see the game in person John? I had business obligations and could only get bits and pieces, but it sounds like my Habs were not as sharp as they should have been, and your Rangers were definitely on their game. Rats!

So now it comes down to tomorrow night.

Bill, at this point I agree with you, however the season end is a great thriller. We have to take what we get. And there are always surprises.

Never give up the faith.

GO HABS GO!!

Didn't get to go, Dean. I usually use StubHub for second-hand tickets, but the prices there were even much higher than I was willing to pay.

Did anyone watch that Islanders/Devils game?! Holy sh*t!!

I'm glad my Rangers took 6th - now we get to face the Thrashers instead of the Devils. Night and day IMO.

To all Leafs and Habs fans, condolences.

Couple of weird games to close out the season. The Habs/Leafs game was a strange one too last night. I watched the last period of the Devils/Islanders. All I needed to watch was the last couple of minutes though! I think you've nailed it John - if my team were in, I'd rather be playing the Thrashers instead of the Devils too.

Man, that is sad. Watching the Leafs celebrating Saturday night and then watching the Isles get the OT win to bump them out. T.O. must be crushed, the excitement at the Saturday game was Game 7-esque.

It's hard to feel sorry for the Leafs or Habs. They had their chances, but it was the Islanders who ultimately did what they needed to do to get into the playoffs. Oh well, I'd much rather watch the Raptors anyways! Image

Steve, While your statements about the Leafs & Habs are true, you are coming perilously close to having your citizenship revoked for that last sentence.
;)

Go Canucks!

First game is Thursday, hopefully i'll get to go to one of these games.

Anyone else see the Penguins getting surprisingly far?

I wouldn't be surprised if they do John. They're the team I most hope to see more of during the playoffs. I've only seen them play a couple of times on TV but they seem like an exciting to team to watch.

Hey Greg, I'm definitely a Leafs fan, but during the regular season I really do prefer watching the Raptors. Maybe it's because I play basketball three times a week and have a greater appreciation for what those athletes are doing. But don't call the mounties just yet! If the Leafs were in there this year, I'd be glued to the TV! I guess I'll join you in cheering for Vancouver this year. Hopefully the fans will behave themselves (I was living in downtown Vancouver during the riot of 94).

I'm a natural Penguin hater, but that aside, it's tough to make an argument for them when you have a young, inconsistent goalie and Giveaway Gonch on your blue line. It's easier for defensive teams to clamp down than it is for offensive minded teams to back off.

On the other hand, I don't have much faith in Ray Emery, either, so it should be an interesting series.

I can definitely see the Pens doing some damage. Gary Roberts was a nice pickup and gives this young talented team grit and veteran leadership. Plus, they're playing Ottawa in the opening round and we know how successful they've been in the playoffs over the years! Image
