Thanks, Jerry. The few that have reserves are reasonable considering their condition and book values. I just have too many (I know, I know, how can one have too many Beatles' recordings!)

I started buying Beatle albums when the Capitol catalogue had been switched over to Apple Labels in the 70s IIRC. Followed that up by buying the Japanese imports because of their superior sound quality and have quite a few Japanese Imports going into the solo years including the Wedding Album.

I bought a version of the White Album that was released on White Vinyl with a purple Capitol label. It would have looked much better with a green Apple label though.

The 2 vinyl Beatle items I still have a desire to acquire one of these days would be a numbered White Album and the Get Back Box Set.

Those are good ones, Jamie. I don't have the boxed set, either. I woudn't mind having a nice original mono copy of the White Album as well.

I've got around 500 Beatles albums (group and solo), and probably about as many 45's and picture sleeves. I'm a completist of American Beatles albums, and have both mono and stereo original labels, green label, three different Apple label versions, orange and purple labels. I also have a number of imports and boots. Some of my better pieces include: A factory sealed mono Beatles Story, a factory sealed, original numbered copy of the White Album, nine different original versions of Introducing The Beatles (per Bruce Spizer's Vee Jay book), John Lennon'e complete LP catalog - all original factory sealed, a promo copy of Live at The Hollywood Bowl, a rare, withdrawn double album of Concert For Bangla Desh still factory sealed, two rare 1964 flyer/picture sleeves entitled A Gift From Your Holiday Innkeeper, several sealed Mobile Fidelity albums, etc. I've been seriously collecting for the past 26 years.

The British colored vinyl series, which I have, does have the White Album on white vinyl with an Apple label. Abbey Road was also issued on green vinyl with an Apple label.

And I thought I had a lot!

The Japanese Red and Blue dbl LPs were released on red and blue vinyl respectively, with Green Apple Labels with red or blue surrounds.(Later ones had Black Odeon Labels). I had them in brand new Mint condition, with OBI's, but sold them all.
Oh well...

I've got most of the Japanese "EAS" releases, only missing a few... I have the most of the US picture sleeves except for a couple. I have all the US EPs, even the Vee Jay issue...

I'm a pseudo member. I have a fake japanese copy with orignal vinyl pressing and replica insert.
Can't afford a real one so I just settled for a fake.

My friend's Dad that worked at Captiol had one, we used to get it out and look at it when we were growing up. Other than that, no association.

In other words, he had an almost impossible to find "first state" cover?

Don't know if you saw it, but years ago there was a woman on the Antiques Roadshow who had what appeared to be a first state cover.

She claimed she bought it in a store. The so-called expert on show went on to explain that they (first state covers) were only for sale for one day before being pulled back.

However, I think Beatleologists would totally discredit her story, saying the recall was weeks before the lp was to go on sale, thus it is virtually impossible that any covers were actually sold as such. Any that did get out were promos or in the case of your friend's father's copy.

Yes, this was in the early-mid 1970s and it was ONLY the cover, no product inside, kept in a brown envelope with a clasp IIRC. It was always in his sister's room for some reason, she was the older child...may have been her's...dunno.

I got a 'Four By The Beatles' EP from him as well as a promo copy of "All You Need Is Love/Baby You're A Rich Man". It was a cool time, I can remember Bert's Dad bringing home The Hollywood Bowl LP for the first time as well as The White Album in White vinyl and the two Red and Blue 62-66/67-70 LPs in colored vinyl.

I can remember Bert putting the needle down on the Hollywood Bowl LP, and the intro to "Twist and Shout" with the audience screams blew my mind..HA
