I apologize Elys... I came off a little harsh there. I havent had the best of days today.
I really had no reason to post.. just venting a problem in a similar same field.
Once again, I apologize.

Aw shoot Scott, I rather enjoy it when the big guy comes running upstairs to the peanut gallery with a big stick.
As much as the we can be an unruly mob, it appears there are some big brains hanging out in these parts. I would think every now and then, once he stops laughing, he might go hmmmmmmmmm?

Rickenbacker already has a custom shop, it builds every instrument that comes out of the factory.
Compared to how others are made the level of personal attention and detail that's applied to each and every one is outstanding. Each one is finished and inspected by hand, and all of the work is done by a relatively small group of very skilled employees.
Although there are always going to be little things I'd love to see on a 4000 series bass (Chequered Binding and Horseshoes) in the end the finish fit and quality of the product leaving the factory is IMHO better than anything coming out of a so called "custom shop" from any of the other manufacturers.
As was mentioned earlier we are lucky to have a few very skilled Forum members who can assist us with those absolutely cannot live without modifications and customisations.
