Richard,

Is this place gonna be open while we are playing? I'm gonna bring my keys but I haven't had too much chance to work on the set list. I know a few of them from previous bands tho... There are also a few songs that I can sing and play pretty well too, songs like "The Seeker" and a few others like that one. I'm gonna bring my Rick bass and guitar as well, cause it IS a Rickenbacker confluence, after all. But I'll play keys as much as you want... I am really looking forward to it!

Gene: As I understand it, the jam session will be held in a private party room at the restaurant.

That's right, the session will be in a private room in the restaurant, although the wall separating it from the rest of the restaurant is glass, so you can see through it. Also, I believe they are going to close the restaurant at 8:00 p.m., or maybe they just meant they don't get much business after 8:00. At any rate, they said 8:00 would be a good time for them, because it is "after hours" and would not interfere with the operation of the restaurant.

We understand that not everyone will have had time to work up every single song on the set list - that was just to provide a list of possible songs we could all play together, so we would at least have some songs in common from the start. Heck, there are a few of them I have not had a chance to work up either, so I figure we don't all have to play on every song. We could just let whoever knows a given song play on that one. Anyway, it's just for fun, so we don't want to put a lot of pressure on people to learn a lot of songs by a deadline, or anything like that. Thanks, Gene, for being a good sport about playing keys; you can probably just switch off between keys, guitar and bass as the spirit moves you.

I was planning to bring my Teardrop 9-string guitar, but I broke one of the octave strings while tuning it this AM. I had to change out two strings, because of the way the Bigsby is strung, and now I can't get it tuned correctly. The new strings looked like the right sizes, so this is very frustrating. I guess I'll need to pick out another player when I get home tonight...

Oops! Somehow three songs got overlooked that 2tens&an18 wanted to add to the song list. They are
1. Come Together
2. I Dig a Pony
3. Helter Skelter

Sorry about that!

Okay everybody, I won't have access to a computer any more between now and the session, so I'll see you all tonight!

Let me be the first to thank Tony and Richard for putting this together. Tonight, I had more fun trying to remember songs I hadn't played or sung in nearly 40 years! We actually started to sound pretty good on several of those "oldies". I sincerely hope we'll do this again and soon. Thanks again everybody, for showing up and having fun together! Man, there were several Ricks in attendance I would've liked to hang on my wall. Mike

Hey, I had a great time too... I loved seeing the other Ricks and enjoyed talking about and playing them, Mike! Thanks to all who set this up, and I propose we do a BBQ/JAM/BarnDance/JAM/FISH FRY/JAM/GOAT ROPING/JAM(or combination thereof) in the near future!

Sorry for the lack of group pics, but I was too busy playing to drag out the camera! Here are a couple of "the kids" on display when we took a much-deserved break. P.S. I hope others who took pics will post 'em as I was having too much fun to do it. MikeImageImage

I too, had a great time at this event. Thank you guys, it was a treat to be in a room with more than just my Rics. I'm up for that barbeque/jam/goatroppin'/jam thing anytime. Nice to put a face to the random electronic Ric freinds. Thanks again, and Randy, I'll get those pics to you very soon, so we can post them up as well.

Alan, Gene, Mike, and Randy,

I'm in for that barbeque goatropin' jam too. It was great to meet you guys, and a lot of fun to play the old songs. Let's do it again.
