you can see him do it right at the end of the vide.

OK, there's proof. I stand corrected. Now back to our regular discussion...

How about that shrieking opening lick on Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Up Around the Bend"...is that not a Rickenbacker?

Oh, and if there really are more bass posts than guitar posts, let's please promise not to try to "balance" things out...what a crazy drag that would be...

Do we need softball teams or something?

Nah, we bass players just need to keep buying guitars too Image

It's only fair to the Other Half...
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you, and sit in with the band whenever you can, to keep your chops up!

Ever since I joined the Forum back in 2004, I've been waiting for this thread to inevitably pop up!

I hope Peter doesn't have to build a wall to separate the two camps (seems the thing to do these days...).

John, you are correct. In the end it doesn't matter, it's all about Ricks.

I think it's because the doggone guitarists keep getting all the chicks, so they have less time to play with their keyboards.

Possible exception was when I saw Rath's band. The chicks were after the low boy.(Oh yea, in my band too!)
I'm just happy to be here.

low notes are sexier ...

that is why I like the low B!

it is the low bass notes and drum beat that gets the girls dancing ... not the jangly guitars ...

It's because it's an established fact that one can only play lead bass on a Rickenbacker bass, and one cannot play lead on a Rickenbacker guitar-- this frustrates the guitarists immensely, LOL.

"When I was young" playing bass in the band, the girls always were close to the bass player, as the bass amp rack was the place they could fan their hair! Image

I guess, a cool, sovereign and power full bass player is always more attractive than that yelling-openmouth-slobbering-jumping and running around-heavy-metal-lead-guitarists with their hypertensive teenie behavior. Image

There are more bass posts/players because it is easier to learn how to play only 4 or 5 strings.
Learning to play 6 or 12 strings takes effort and talent. Too difficult for many. Image
