Rats!

My dad had glaucoma, and he couldn't handle photo flashes, so that makes sense with the glasses. He couldn't watch TV with a lot of lights on either. He said bright lights just made him completely snow blind.

I assume if he has glaucoma, that accounts for the tinted lenses.

And the hat to reduce the brightness from the sky and from stage lighting.
