Having now received my new-old 1968 Rickenbacker catalog from John Hall, I am enamored of the 390 acoustic from that era, and am hipful, er, hopeful, that Paul could manufacture a 390 from this mould Image It is all-acoustic, no pickups at all, and a truly gorgeous acoustic Rick to boot. And is NOT a JazzBeaux. Paul ? Is there enough well-figured RickMaple available to do it? Image Image
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you, and sit in with the band whenever you can, to keep your chops up!

I appreciate the look of the first one, but I am just crazy about the second one. I must be some sort of traditionalist or something. Bursts on acoustics don't grab me, but a gorgeous natural wood finish...ahhh so nice. I would love to see a deep, dark tobacco finish with the CB binding. Oowee. Sign me up.

Kenny Howes owns a pretty nice 700 in Montezuma Brown. Dot inlays too. Maybe he'll post a pic.

The exact position of the neck with respect to the body is determined in the final fitting of the dovetail. The fretboard must sit at exactly a 1 1/2 degree angle to the body and this is achieved by trimming the cheeks of the neck heel, by hand, using a razor-sharp chisel, until the fit is exact. The necks are about 50% handwork, anyway, and the exact length of each will vary by about plus or minus 1/16". This is most obvious in the relation of the fretboard to the soundhole, which is the only spot where tolerances resolve themselves. Regardless, however, of where the fretboard ends up, the scale is correct, being based upon the location of the 12th fret after the neck and body are glued up, when the bridge location is finalized.

Shirt looks familiar. D'you think he keeps it in his guitar case?

The only dots I see are on Kenny's shirtImage If there are any inlays on the neck the photo doesn't pick 'em up.

Ha! Stan you are correct sir. No inlays at all. Could explain all of those bad notes he hits. (Just kiddin' Kenny.)
