We play for us with a good deal of humor.
And occasionally, we like to share the joke.

Whoops, now I sound like I'm slamming all same-sex bands...
Not that's there's anything wrong with that.

I didn't at all want to make it look like I'm all buzzniss. Some of that was letting off a little steam from past experiences.
Most of the deal with my duo is that we have a blast together and if the rest of the people there want to be entertained, that's just icing on the cake.
Mmmmmmm, cake.
Because there's never an issue with any of the respect issues between us, there is never any tension. We also know each other's vocal ranges, so if I know my buddy isn't going to hit that high note on a request that we'd never rehearsed together, I just pop in at grab it. He isn't even surprised anymore. It is a little harder when the request is too obscure for me to know (I have never heard track 5 from that Herman's Hermits album, I'm sure.)
I meant to say in my post above that making too big of a deal about the bilogical differences in bandmates seems arbitrary. I think that finding the right people for the band and situation is way more important than trying to meet specific expectations- but I've never worked in marketing.

I feel the same. I'm not too politically correct, whatever that is, but people offer a lot more than just what they look like.
I also think that when you have pipes like Joplin, Plant, Stewart, Anderson...then they really don't need to play third guitar after all.

.... in much the way the early Beatles did.
Humor is a great thing to inject to the act - if you can. Easier said than done.
