It would appear that I and a few others (04-2002) have been "registered" here longer than Peter McCormack (04-2003).

I don't remember a big welcome, but then I don't easily remember what happened last week either, and as Jerry previously stated, I seem to kill a few threads also - seems I'm the last poster in so many! LOL

As far as receiving a "welcome at my arrival" is concerned... There may have been, but I don't recall.

But my 100th post was special: I was knighted "Sir Andrew of Left Coast" by Peter... and a pack of strings appeared in my mail box shortly thereafter.

Time to go back and revisit it. It is being updated right now. We hope to have new information in it in the next month or two.

I found the forum a little over five years ago myself, when I tried to register my (at that time my only) Rick. Don't know why I didn't register at that time...

Today marks my one year anniversary with the forum, and this marks my 1400th post!

Well, lessee....I "got on the internet" in Jan. '97. The first word I searched for was "naked", I mean "Rickenbacker", lol. I found Evil Bob's site, enjoyed that until he decided to pull the plug. Peter started Alt.guitar.rickenbacker and ran that for awhile until things got out of hand. He then started this site and I joined the first day. I'vde been grateful ever since. I had my own site, "Another Unofficial Rickenbacker Site, for a number of years but I switched to a mac and the software for my website wasn't compatible, so I decided not to renew the site last Summer. I don't miss it. 3 cheers for Peter!

I was trying to sell a couple of Ricks on Mike Park's free classifieds and was contacted about them be forum member Al Adams. Al sent me the link to this site. Although he dosen't visit here anymore, I have been around almost four years now.

Al has been busy trying to get his guitar amp company off the ground.

I remember it well. In January 2005 I was thinking of buying a Gretsch guitar and found the Gretsch forum. When I dumped the Gretsch idea I decided to go for a Rickenbacker and did a Google search and found this wonderful place.

I started a new thread called 'A Rick Wannabee' stating my interest in buying a new Fireglo 330/6. There were many welcomes and the one that stands out in my memory was Paul's because he offered me excellent advice at the same time - "Ya gotta get a 12 to go with it!!"

One month later I did!!

I still hold Paul responsible for my addiction.........

I met Peter, JWilli, Belloff, and a few others in late 97 over at alt.guitars.rickenbacker. Like JWilli, I believe that I registered here the first day.

I've had a long interest in Rickenbackers but their rarity and cost in Australia prevented me from acquiring one. When the opportunity arose to visit our daughter in the US, I did some Google searches to try and find out the prices there and recieved a pleasant surprise. One of the sites that came up was this, so I lurked for some time and gained a lot of valuable information. Upon our return from holiday with a brand new 360/12FG I made my first post with a few pics and recieved a very warm welcome, especially from Darren and Howard, and not only on the net, but in person. We met, and I was introduced to Ron, Greg, Frank, Joe and Mark and more recently Alisha. They even let me try and play with them, brave souls that they are !!!!! I recently acquired a 620/6AFG and am looking to expand the collection, though I am going to have a hard time justifying to the wife (I keep pointing out I did buy her a new car).

Another forum I was a member of left me a little disappointed but I am looking forward to a long association here. And reading Andrews post maybe I should get a move on and notch up my 100th post.

Thanks for these great memories, everyone. I used to go by Peter McCormack alone in the early days of the Forum. Later on when I upgraded the software I changed the name to Admin followed by my name.

How else? Looking for a Rick...

I just did an internet search for Ricks for sale, which led me here... poked around a little, vibe seemed great, so I placed my first post in the wanted section. I'm struggling to remember who it was from but I got a really nice welcome, and soon after Mr. Lindsey Hahn and I hooked up on a deal for my much-loved Rosa... the rest as they say is history.... meaning, I'm still clogging bandwidth with sarcastic remarks and nonsense, and intend to do the same as long as everybody can tolerate it.

Along the way I've learned alot more than I imagined and gotten to associate with some great people... people who would be welcome in my home any day, any time.

It was earlier this year, January, I believe, when I joined up. I think it was through Bjorn's Rickenbacker site that I found a link to the forum. I just signed up on a lark, sort of, to see what would happen.

Anyway, by the time I had read through Bjorn's site, and looked through the RIC site, I had firmly decided that someday I'd buy a Rickenbacker. I think one of the earliest posts I submitted was a thread about why one purchased a Rickenbacker. And I answered it in the future tense.

And like a couple of other folks, I still feel like something of a newcomer here. I don't start many threads, but seem to sneak in a comment here and there. Because I usually get in on the middle of a discussion, I guess I haven't really presented much of a chance for many members to post a lot of welcome messages.

I particularly enjoyed reading all about Alisha's adventures in Oz and England. Another thing I enjoy about the forum is seeing all the photos of members' guitars and basses. There's a lot of history there.

So I've finally ordered my Ric, and when it arrives, I'll do my best to post some photos of it, and me playing it. And who knows? There may even be a link to an audio clip of me playing some of my favorite songs.

I know a guy locally who plays a Gretsch, a left handed one, too. Maybe we can sit down and play some of the songs of our youth, seeing as how we have similar musical tastes. It would be nice to do some playing out with my new acquisition since not that many folks around here play Rickenbackers. I'm looking forward to that.

I like to do something familiar in a slightly unfamiliar way; like playing a song that was never recorded with a Rickenbacker, and stealing say some of McGuinn's licks and put them to a song he never recorded. For example, can you hear a 360 12 string on the Allman's Rambin' Man? I can. I think I can even hear a few McGuinn licks in it too.

Thanks to Peter for this whole project and labor or love. I'm having a good time hangin' out here. I'm sure I'd have a blast trading licks with any of the forum members. That would be fun. Maybe someday.
