Thanks Peter. I think I'll start a new thread sometime soon about this; I personally wouldn't pick up a C-series instrument (I hadn't even got around to the V-series) as I couldn't afford it. I'm glad JH is only doing 1000 of 'em, and yes, if you're like me and aren't as picky as some, pick up a used V-series and trick it out (7.4ohm Pickups, etc.). I think I'll start the "beat-up Rickenbacker" society...

I'm playing a 330 for one year now....never had a better guitar, but sometimes I wish I had more space on the fretboard.

An updated 350 would be great.

Strange, how some people react if you seem to 'attack' their favourite brand of guitars...let me say one thing: Im playing Rickenbackers for 4 years now and had a few of them (320, 350, 620) and I would never play another guitar than a RIC. I'm not satisfied with everything about these guitars as I said above, but to me they have something a Strat never had and never will have - there is a lot of soul in this maple bodies...(and the Les Paul is too heavy, hoho...)

Missed the Sierra on ebay, checking out a Dakota next week...

I love a beat up geetar...that first scratch always hurts for some reason, if the guitar is beat you can knock it around....I think more people on the forum need to lighten up and put some scratches on a guitar....instead of setting them up next to their mint, 1964, 2500.00, Ludwig Ringo kit and looking at it and saying wow that looks like the Beatles, I do it too but you know what I mean (I dont have the 2800.00 Ringo kit though)
I like the old V series fine, and while I dont really have a problem with the Cs, I just really dont see the need, I guess some Rick folks got more money than they know what to do with...
I just bought a 89 Rick 360-12 v64 (maybe from you??)
with the pickups tricked out and it has the correct Fireglo, even the C series has a goofy looking Fireglo, why cant those guys get it right???? Did all the painters quite in 1990 or something????
what is going to make me go out and knock down another 1300.00 on top of the 1000.00 I paid for this one??? what more can they do that we cant do to the Vs ourselves???
as far as newer style guitars, the only improvements I could see Rickenbacker doing would be to change the neck profile to make it start off small and then widen by the time you get down to the 12 fret more like a Gibson, instead of one size all the way down the neck...but I like it fine now....Gretsch has made their new guitars like that and they play better...(I would still rather have an old one with the binding falling off..is that sick???)

Tommy II, the new 360/12C63 has a FG paint job like that because....it's the correct one. It's done like Harrison's 12.

the 360 12C that Ive seen posted was real bright red on the very edges and stark, natural maple wood color in the middle???? maybe it looks different in person???
Im looking at a couple of pictures of Harrison's and it looks more yellow in the middle, actually holding it might be different... have you ever held Harrison's Rickenbacker???? I havent....
I dont expect them to nail Harrisons, but it would be nice if they added a little yellow in the color like most of the 60s 360-12 I've owned....Im happy with my V series, I would buy a C if it was affordable, I dont think it ever will be though new or used...
If you like the new C great.... go for it, Im not stopping you or anything... but bring your Visa....

I don't think that yellow was used on Harrison's 360, I think the yellow that is seen on many of these fire-glo vintage Rics, is actually just aged lacquer. If you look at the binding it too is yellow. I've got a brand new Hofner 500/1 done in Nitro that has already started to turn, the binding isn't bright white anymore. I think Rickenbacker's intent is to issue that guitar as close as it was when it when into Harrison's hands, not as it is seen today.
