I remember gas at 27.9 cents a gallon for regular, we used to put a "bucks worth" in my 61 283 Chevy Impala and ride around all night, maybe put another bucks worth in later on. It used to cost less than 5 bucks to fill the tank and I think I can remember doing that once.
I paid about 50.00 yesterday to fill my tank. 1000% markup, course it's been 35 years.

In a different perspective, 2 hours work @ minimum wage filled my '70 Beetle in 1970;nowadays,it would take over 5 hours work @ mw.

I remember a gas war on the street where I worked and during lunch we all went out and filled up for 23.9 - 1971.
I also remember scrounging up 7 cents off the floor and corners of my apartment to buy enough gas to drive the 5 miles to work to get my paycheck. 5 cents now wouldn't even start the car....

Yeah, I remember gas wars. $0.23.9 was a pretty decent price, all right. And I remember when it hit $.50/gal. What wailing and gnashing of teeth! And how some people swore they were going to quit driving if gas hit $1.00/gal.

It's hovering around $3.00-$3.10 US here. It didn't stop me from signing my life away for a 1976 Plymouth Roadrunner with a 318 c.i.d. V8 today.

I've owned a ton of cool '60's muscle cars but never a Mopar. I've generally stuck to Fords and fell in love with '67 Cougars so I had a string of those. My last Cougar had a heavily modified 390 that got about 8 MPG......just a blast to drive though.
Last year I bought an '87 Buick GN.....it requires premium fuel but, thankfully, gets about 20 MPG (to and from the drag strip at least). On top of the premium fuel I also run methanol injection....at least it beats paying $9 a gallon for race gas .

Go Mopar! 440 6 Pack w/3 lousy Holley carbs. Syncronizing them thangs? No way, just dump a whole bunch of gas down the intake.
Now had I know anything about Webbers...

'72 340 Cuda 1100 cfm Thermo-Quad. Rusted out and the rearend was floating. Sold it to a guy that had another one for parts. I'd love to have that puppy back mint! Huge legroom in the front with the buckets back. What a car.
