No Paul, that makes you an incredibly versatile professional! Image

Besides, you do far more surface prep than Earl Scheib and you use better paint. They hardly do a full wipedown with Prep-Sol before they shoot that cheap enamel stuff, much less any sanding and bondo work... (ducking and running fast Image )

Earl down in SoCal didn't sand. A friend had his Mom's olds Cutlass (a beautiful li'l ol' lady car with 16K on the clock and dull paint), painted by Earl in Costa Mesa, against my advice.

They painted everything he did not remove, although they did mask the tires and lenses.

That means pale blue bumpers, window trim (both formerly anodized aluminum), door handles, emblems and scripts, and wiper blades, too. Yikes!

I think Earl has pretty much left that location. Last time in SoCal (last week) I didn't see any sign of the ol' flim flam man...

Earl Schieb..one LA "classic....remember Ralph Williams or ..guess this one from the quote: "I'll ride a pig, dance at your wedding or kiss your wife to sell ya a car"

You mean those Saturday morning TV Westerns he and his German Shepherd dog would sponsor, and interrupt them every 5 minutes with his nasally rapid-fire: “Hi, friends - Ralph Williams, Ralph Williams Ford - and this is my dog, Storm” ?

That was back before he went to jail for cheating his customers....

George, do YOU remember “Howdy, Neighbor - This is Cal Worthington, Cal Worthington Dodge - and this is my dog Spot.” At first, he really had a dog in the commercials. Every so often he would switch to a different breed and a different dog, but they were always named Spot. Then, he got tired of dogs and went to the zoo and started cycling through the animals.

His two best lines were: "I’d stand on my head to make you a better deal." and "If I can’t make you a better deal, I’ll eat a bug."

Of course, Cal started off spoofing Ralph Williams big time. But at least Cal never went to jail like Ralph Image Prolly mighta shoulda tho. Cal was a bomber pilot in WWII, too, and mentioned that on one of those commercials.

Me too! A six and a twelve. Congrats - welcome to the "Paul's building me a Work of Art" Club Image

Paul's the kind of fella that will definitely masking-tape off any door handles and wiper blades first, too...

George is a club member as well.

Cal should have gone to jail...there were several exposes written about him. Old "never met a gimme cap I didn't like" Mike Moore could have had a field day with him, but Mike was a nasty misfit teener when Cal was at his pinnacle.

How many "Club Members" are going to be at SoCal 2007? The only guitar that I'm taking out there is Paul's masterpiece.

Please educate me Paul. Are you a Ric employee,a subcontractor to Ric, partner with Ric for the acoustics.

Does Ric build any acoustics in house or are they all built by what sounds to me like independent Luthiers such as yourself.

Also, are they built at the Ric factory ?

Just curious
