"Jim, I'm thinking about re-finishing mine Fireglo."

LOL... I bet it wouldn't look too bad, with the black pickguard and black/checkerboard binding it could look not unlike a 4002 in Walnut.

Well, I ended up getting the Shadow. Yes, the guy who loves Sea Green and Blue Boy now has a "none more black" bass. I'm still not sure how a bass that was produced in such low numbers ended up in rural Ontario. It's actually in pretty good shape although some of the blackened chrome is a bit worn. It's a bit grungy too (the non-original case was very funky - and not in the good way - it will be chucked). I'm going to strip the bass this weekend, give it the Zymol/Scratch-X treament and see how it cleans up. Pics to follow.

Good score on the Shadow Steve :-)

You need a black fretboard or the phrase should be.....

Thanks Sean and Brian - I'm definitely feeling the pull of the dark side! I really like the Shadow's black neck binding and neck dots. It just feels "stealth". Brian - are you still looking to move the "Blackened" bass"

At the moment "no".....I'm still on the hunt for a Wal and won't sell it until I find one (and even then only if I have to). I'm also not quite sure of what to ask for it.

My band reforming soon may be a no-go and if that's the case I may just trim down to the LK but I'm not sure yet. The red Laredo will be the 1st to go but I'm holding off for the moment.

Congrats Steve! Another Shadow in the family.

"I'm still not sure how a bass that was produced in such low numbers ended up in rural Ontario."

Well, there's one in Tel Aviv, Israel, so you can never know...

Well Ilan, that begs the question - how did you find your Shadow?

Ilan, I heard that a Rabbi asked someone for a Shofar and the guy misunderstood him... Image

$750??? Now I feel like I really got hosed! Image
I took a couple of hours to clean up the Shadow this morning (also the first time I've done the Scratch-X/Zymol routine - wow does it ever work!).

I wasn't going to worry about the state of the bridge pickup surround, but the rest of the bass looks so good now, the surround looks pretty bad in comparison. Does anyone have a spare they'd like to sell, or is there a known source for getting it re-powdercoated?
