The numbers were as follows:
1993: 360/12 OS w/ dot neck and f-hole.
1995: 610.
1996: 325 w/ f-hole.
1997: 335 w/ f-hole.
1998: 345 w/ f-hole.
1999: 4001s.
3261: 4005 w/ f-hole.
For the most part, these were available in Fireglo only.

I seem to remember the numbering system was odd because it included all kinds of manufacturers' instruments in their one RM catalog.

Pete, about the differences in your horseshoe pickups between the CS and V63 - being a 1990 CS, is your horseshoes magnetized? I though some of the early models had real horseshoes, not RIs. Or am I confusing early V63s with early CSs???
Also, have you measured the DC resistance of the two pups windings?

Very early v63's had magnetized shoes. A forumite has a May '85 with 'em. I doubt the CS' did, though.

Thanks, John. I couldn't remember which was the one, but had a feeling it was the V63s as they came out first in the earlier 80s.
Coil windings differences would have to be the difference for Pete then.

Here's Gary Clauson's RM3261. I can't remember who he got it from. It's fairly worn, but how many of them would you ever get to see, let alone own?

The RM stock number was just that a stock number. As a product became available it got a number. The first group were ordered at the same time hence the similar numbers.
There's also another that John missed from his list above. #3262 was a converter comb 6/12.
Also the 1995 was actually a 615 (610 with accent vib)

Hello Shawn, the project is moving, although slowly. I'm waiting on a call from my Luthier to pick out a paint sample. It should be ready by Thanksgiving... fortunately the V63 gets me by. The electronics work was finished in July and it sounds and plays fantastic! Very thin neck, which my Luthier pronounced as "Perfect, maybe the best neck I've seen on a bass". He's a guitarist, like me, so he also appreciates a thin neck bass.
Hopefully, pics and full documentation will be posted before Christmas - It seems to be the year of "All things Squire".

You're right Gerry. There was also a new-style 360 with an f-hole, but I have no idea what the RM number for it was.

Has anyone heard from him lately? I never got to know him well, but he has great taste in basses!

Can't comment right now though.

Not quite unique Kev, but certainly very rare...

Great and informative post. I have an S from 86 with magnetized HS and as Pete mentioned earlier I also find it satisfyingly aggressive.
Anyone else think that beautiful JG 4005 would look better with a 2050 headstock shape? No really...
