The saddle tilt actually helps with the intonation, otherwise everything would be sharp.

i am thinking of putting one of these on my 74 4000,as i cannot get the g string intonated. i think i would prefer to try the aluminum model,as it should be closer in weight/density to the rick bridge. one thing i never notice people saying about the hipshot-with it's more tapered front edge, and without that (to me) useless mute thingy sticking up,it seems like there would be more of an playing access to the strings behind the bridge pickup area-that in itself would make it a worthwhile thing.it seems i bang my fingers on those big mute level screws, esp the e string side....... oh,and i really like the way it looks as well.

I have mentioned that several times in the past as have others. Without the mute assembly in the way you have more playing options.

whoops! sorry, jeffrey! i guess i need to spend even MORE time here,so i don't miss out. I was searching through the archives the other day and saw a posting that included john hall talking about the replacement rick bridge they were researching.....from 2003!

so the hipshot is looking better to me all the time. cheers!

I remember reading that posting as well as the postings from a forum member who was connected with Hipshot on the developement of their superior, though copyright infringing, product. I don't see how Hipshot could come out with one first.

well,i ordered the hipshot bridge in aluminum today..almost went for the brass one,as it was described as accentuating more bass, but i think the aluminum one will retain more of the traditional sound. will keep ya'll posted! i think i will also be ordering a set of the chromes 40-95.
