Actually, the "only one pickup connected" puzzzled me as well, as I've only gotten what I consider the "vintage" tone with both pickups and the .0047 cap in-circuit.

Indeed, if I had to word the post again, I'd note that John was an expert, as opposed to the expert. Don't want to leave out Elys!

Well Christmas day arrived and after helping the children out with their presents,i turned my attention to my present the Ampeg BA115 combo.Firstly i had bought some new Rotosound strings so after restriging the bass,i pluged into the amp and started to find a good Ric sound.

Thanks to two pieces of advice from Joey, about the position of the amp & disconecting the 1" speaker (which i did) the amp and my Ric 4003 sounded good together. Then i started to think about the sound i wanted, being a big Chris Squire fan i messed around trying to get a Squire sound and then i thought there where to many different factors between Me & my bass setup and Chris and his setup for me to get even a slight match. And even IF i managed it i would only be a very pale version of the original.

So i messed around with bass & amp and found a nice Ric sound that i like,So all in all i nice Christmas day Thank you all for your help & advice.
