Only about 8 more hours - we all expect better pics than a cardboard box when you get that baby out! :D

Case is opened allready. We even took some pictures with my girlfriends studio photo lights yesterday evening. I am waiting for her to finish the "raw" photos.

Impresion so far: I love the sound and the looks. The neck is a bit wider than my '73. It needs a good setup as the neck has a noticable bow now. I will let her get adjusted to Dutch climate some more days before I do this.. There is a sticker from Rickenbacker which says "shipped 04DEC06" on the box. Serial is from 2006-08.

Sounds like Christmas came a little early and you are happy with it. Congrats on the C64 - JG looks so good on one.

I am happy with it indeed. Though in Holland most people dont give presents for Christmas. We just eat too much. ;-) Giving presents most Dutch do on Sinterklaas.
Congrats on the C64 - JG looks so good on one.
I wanted a black S model for years. My brother in law living in America gave this opportunity. :D

I haven't yet had to under the torture of waiting for the box to warm up. I think I'd almost have to leave it at a friend's house so that I wasn't overcome by the wait and open it too early.

I does make me wonder if the dealers follow the same guidelines before they remove the guitars for stock (whatever guitars they put in stock). I would sure hope so.

I've also said the same thing.

Bert, nice picture of a sweet bass!

Interesting thread. I still have my outer box that my 1982 4001S came in as a new purchase (in early 1984 - less of a backlog then) and it just says "Glass - Handle with Care" with the Rickenbacker logo. The additional statement about temperature is more recent, but very helpful. I'd always thought it was clever to put "Glass - Handle with Care" on the box. I received the bass when I lived in Central Florida, so fortunately the temperature was less of an issue.
I guess I'd kept the box all this time to use as a shell for the case when I moved. The older, heavy black wood frame case still looks pretty good.

BTW, nice Jetglo S model! :)

It's sure turning out that way. It wasn't intentional, but looking back, I have always been attracted to wood grain - our house has a lot of nice-grained oak and some of the woodwork too.

Hey, everyone, not too much longer and the Ricken-Santa will be making his rounds! Good luck to all!

Bert, if you don't mind, I'm using this picture as my new desktop wallpaper:

Congradultions on your new Bass. I love the pictures of the boxes...Priceless, but the Bass is certainly worth the
agonizing wait and humorous pictures of boxes to kill time. Great Desktop wallpaper!

I have missed my 330 AFG delivery 2 times now and it is cold here in Maryland.
I'm going to have to wait through this same ordeal as the guitar aclimates.
I do have a 360 JG to pull me through though.
