Congrats Dave, that's a stunning looking bass.

I didn't even know there was Autumnglo in 1970. And a 21 fretter to boot!

Congrats Dave, also from Germany! :D
But from the shading of the AG colour, I suspect IT IS A REFIN!!!

AG was available in 1970, but she is a refin.

Both pickups, the pods, caps, TRC, case and tail are original.

The bridge is a replacement and I am not sure about the pick guard yet.

Thought the shading was a little dark for a factory FG from this year...

That's a beautiful job there though...

Is this Ken S's old bass Dave?

Thats where I remember it from! If it was Ken's, didnt it have a strange inlay down around the 20th fret?, and the whole piece of the fingerboard was replaced? Hence the "slightly" difference in the grain ?

You say it may have a replacement bridge? Where do you get a replacement bridge for a three hole tailpiece?

Well done, Dave. :D Welcome to the 21 fret 4001 owners club. That beauty is one of both RIC's AND Dale's finest moments, you know? As far as I can tell, the bridge/tailpiece assembly on it is original, ditto for the pickguard.
Hold on to that totally desirable 4001 - there are not that many about. I know of only eight, including yours and mine. Cheers.

P.S. I have a picture of that 21 fretter prior to Dale working his magic on it - it looked positively scary! :!:
