I'll take one if it's free.

How about we just call this CD "SMiLE" or "Lifehouse". Or better yet, "Chinese Democracy."

Tongue in cheek here.

I'd rather suggest, "A Long and Ricky Road".
Kiddin', just kiddin'.

Funny you should mention the CD, J. Two days ago, Peter, Tony, and I worked out a duping & shipping arrangement. Tony has officially started the duping process through Disc Makers, and either Peter or I (or both of us) will be taking care of ordering & distribution. I don't want to promise a specific release date, but I'm quite confident that the CD will be ready for purchase by the end of this month. (May 2008) I'll let Tony follow up with more specifics as the project develops on his end.

To those interested in obtaining the first RRF CD, I wanted to provide you with an update regarding its progress and obtain some feedback with regard to its price.

To begin, no one involved in the project is making a penny including its organization, sound engineering, artwork, set up for duplication or distribution. I am just now trying to set a reasonable cost for this "release" and I am, as always interested in your input.

I believe Mark will receive the CD toward the end of next week and the DiscMakers' duplication will take place as soon as he can arrange it. We will be making 100 copies and I will be paying for the duplication process. Mark Walker will receive the CDs from DiscMakers and then mail them out. Once we agree on a price I will give you a PayPal account where you can order. Here is what we have so far with regard to costing.

1. Charge for Artists' Recordings - No Charge
2. Charge for Sound Engineering- No charge
3. Charge for Administration of Project - No Charge
4. Charge for Art Work and Duplication Set Up - No Charge
5. Charge for DiscMakers Duplication of 100 CDs - $249
6. Charge for DiscMakers Shipping to Mark - $34
7. Charge for CD Mailers - ~ $1 - $100
8. Charge for Postage ~ $2 US ~$4 International - ~$300
Total ( I am no accountant) $683 so roughly $700
The price of aggravation for waiting - Priceless. All kidding aside, I feel horrible about the delay but the planets may be lining up at last.

It would be my plan to pay out the above expenses from the proceeds. In a perfectly symmetrical universe that would be a charge of $7 per CD

I would ask you to consider one other factor and that is a contribution, to be discussed, to assist Gil with the server costs. When I was paying for the server, the site was a good deal smaller than it is now and it did not have the same technical support (again this is still no charge).

I suggested this to Gil and after a "couple" of emails in this regard he is willing to accept the idea as well he should.

One way to provide a partial payment for the server space is to make a small profit on the CD. Another way would be to submit a donation to him. I am simply suggesting this for the purposes of discussion to see if there is any consensus as to how the majority may wish to handle it.

So a $12 CD would effectively provide Gil with the sum of $500 for his server. I await your comments.

Dear Denny :D

I eagerly await your final order instructions and price so I can get my copy.

I think that the extra amount for Gil is a fine idea. At this price the CD is still a great bargain when you consider that most street buskers sell their homemade, home mastered products for $8+ more than that. This is an extra special compilation of talent from our on-line community. This is even more precious IMO.

Please note that my shipping estimates were incorrect. I have adjusted the figures, accordingly. I am proposing $12 for the CD shipped to your door.

I agree.... That's a great idea, and a price of $12 per CD seems more than fair to me.... It's been a long wait, but one that will have been well worth it, I think! :D
