Hi Kev - my bass is KA017. Looks just like yours, but my thumbrest is long gone.

Cool, a Jan '71! Mine is a Feb (KB 053).

Tony C's '71 is a March and no 21st fret.

Does yours have the small strip of binding at the end of the fretboard near the pickguard or is it bare wood?
That's a feature that changed somewhere in this timeframe.

It's bare wood.

Wow. Great to have you here, Bob. I've been a Bears fans since the 80's. Everyone should definitely check out the Live at Club Cafe DVD (and everything else). A killer version of King Crimson's "Red" and one of my fav Bears' tunes, "Caveman." I love the line: "It's good to be at the top of the food chain."
