Ethan, you're not raising any hackles here.

I discussed using the LS concept with JH back in March, as this project began to appear on my event horizon. In any event, the LS concept was not a Rick "trademark"; the patents were held by the inventor, who licensed it to RIC (then Electro String) and the patents have long since run out.

The color organ itself is public domain; it's not easy to completely patent-protect. I suspect that the concept of prior usage would apply here, but the whole LS thing for guitars was abandoned some decades ago.

This whole thread has inspired me to pick up the Starry Hamer again and will probably take it out this weekend for our band's gigs.....just to shake the foundation loose. :)

Just for the record, the reason this thread came up in the first place, YES, the stickers came off (about a 1/2 hour of peeling) and Scratch-X and Zymol got rid of any lingering residue.
