Hey gang. Bump... I'd like to get suggestions on cool things to do and see on my "tour" in november. I want to "see America" as they say. I'll be driving from Tampa to NYC/Pennsylvania and back. I'd like to break up the driving as much as possible, which means driving 3 or 4 hours a day, stopping to do something, see some forumites, etc. Any suggestions? I already have planned stops in Atlanta and Virginia. thanks, J

GA - Savannah is pretty cool...
SC - Charleston is really nice, I hear Columbia has a good place to eat....eh JWilli?
NC - The Biltmore Mansion and Estate is a really cool tour, and that part of the country in November should be spectacular, Nags Head is scenic and you can see Kitty Hawk where the Wright Brothers flew.
VA - NASA (if you can find someone to show you around....), lot's of historical stuff...Williamsburg, Jamestown, Civil War battlefields all over...
Washington DC - Monuments, Smithsonian, National Gallery, too much to mention.....
Philadelphia - Don't bother...there's no one to see and nothing to do in Philly....

What venue in Frederick MD - that only an hour away. may actually be able to make that! Or Stephens City Va that even closer.

Dog, if you wanna come to Winchester after MARF, the Inn and the Tavern will accomodate you, I've already talked to David about it.
You'll get the bed with the plaque that says
"Graham Griffiths Slept Here"(Among other things)

Awesome! Thanks for all the invites everybody. This is going to be downright affordable after all!

I can't wait, I'm very excited!
Now these aren't actual 'gigs' more like visits with friends, but I'd be very happy to put on a "house concert" Pat Dinizio-style for anyone gracious enough to open their home to the Dog. Covers, originals, whatever you want. I'll have a car full of music gear, so that part is easy!

Nah, just leave a couple of Rickenbackers behind and we'll call it even...

Hey gang. Sorry I haven't rapped at ya in a while... post-tax-deadline schedule busier than anticipated, but all's well and taking off. A big thanks to everyone who's making this trip possible - you know who you are and there'll probably be lots of pictures to document what will surely be the trip of a lifetime.
Perfect timing, after 30 years I finally get to "see" America in a way I haven't really much before. I expect to bring a guitar done by Surefin Custom Coatings with me (see "garage" thread), plus a few Dog Ricks to jam on, maybe a small vintage amp, mini recorder, etc etc.
MARF looks like a blast, and all the stops along the way, and back to FL! Not to mention I haven't had 2 weeks off in a row in about 7 years!!! Woo hoo!
Still seeking suggestions on tiny venues to score solo gigs at...
Cheers, J Dog

I have started booking hotels in the cities I don't have other accomodations.
Still seeking suggestions on places where indie nobodies like me can score gigs...
