Not at all...far be it from me to rail against that which makes life hilarious...
And, bearing in mind what Wints pointed out earlier concerning Carlin's 'faith', here's my fondest wish for dear ol' George:
'May the road rise to meet you, may the wind be always at your back, and may your DNA be reassumed into the biosphere a half hour before the Second Law of Thermodynamics knows your gone...'

Huge fan in his younger days, but the last few times I have watched he seemed angry, or bitter, or something. There was a nastiness I didn't detect when he was younger.
"turning to widely scattered light in the morning."

I hadn't heard this! (Pathetically, I work in a tv station with 9 newscasts a day) He will be missed. I've just burned out on the usual XM stations and been listening to the comedy ones and he is always represented... RIP

George would put most rappers to shame with that little monologue. His delivery was far smoother and more succinct than most as well. Gonna miss you George. You were great for a laugh even when you were dead serious about an issue.

Years ago I was a TV news photographer and worked frequently with the entertainment reporter. I had the opportunity to meet Geoge Carlin a couple of times and he was just what you would describe as a regular guy. Of course, a very bright regular guy. Even after finishing his act he took time to do a 5 minute interview with us. Find some other star who would do that.
He and Carlos Santana rank as my all-time nice guy celebs.
I'm sure his humor and presence will be missed in America and around the world.
Best,
T

He was always hilarious and witty and will be missed. He was the master of the play on words. He wasn't an athiest, as "athiests believe in something and I believe in nothing" as he said on recaps on Larry King earlier tonight. RIP George.

As a tot I saw him do the "Wonderful WINO" DJ bit on TV, I was hooked.
I can't think of another comedian I consider better.

Based on interviews and latter-day routines, I'd say it was disappointment with the human race not living up to it's potential, not bitterness.

That was on the nose, Jerry!

Well...I feel the urge to say Rest in Peace...but it's hard to imagine, George Carlin resting in peace. Good luck with that one, God...he may be dead, but you've got a live one on your hands... Hmm, rest "in" peace? Is peace something you need to get inside of?...
Here's a man that I won't miss...not because I didn't love him, but because he left us with plenty to see and hear and think about.
"I don't understand why prostitution is illegal...Why should it be illegal to sell something that's legal to give away? I can't follow the logic. Of all the things you can to do a person, giving them an orgasm is hardly the worst. In the army they give you a medal for killing people; in civilian life you go to jail for giving them orgasms. Am I missing something?"

Note that you skipped the swearing, but I love that quote.
