I think my first 45 was All Day And All Of The Night by The Kinks in 1964. Still have it and it plays fine. My first LP was Meet The Beatles in 1964.

Actually Mariske Veres was lead singer of Shocking Blue and she is definately not hot because she passed away in 2006.

first single Wak Away by Shane Fenton and The Fentones mean zilch to most on here but in 70's he became Alvin Stadust, always be Shane to me!!

Yep, Zodys was a regular family outing every Sunday back in the day. Bought many records there, or Unimart or Gemco. Then as I got older I found places like Circus Records & College Records. Circus Records was great as they would have tons of bootlegs from all the bands that had recently played the Forum. (Remember Rubber Dubber Records?)
Damn those were the days

Well, the first single(45) that my parents bought me was Slade, Cum on Feel the Noize, when I was 6 or 7, we always had music playing in the house and I was a massive Slade fan.
My parents were into all the 60's stuff, and I remember that most people used to have a picture of the Queen on their mantlepiece, we had a picture of the Beatles.
Through my early teens my parents bought me an endless succession of Punk rock singles, and if there was a coloured vinyl or picture disc to be had, well, it was better than an orgasm.
The first single that I went out and bought with my own money was Elvis Costello and the Attractions and Olivers Army, in 1979 I think it was.
I'm pretty chuffed about that.

The first single I remember specifically haranguing my mom to buy for me was "Listen to What the Man Said" by Wings.
