Not good enough to be a gigging pro, so jamming hobbyist it is. Also more of an accumulator than a collector.

I'm a pro, making 100% of my living from gigging. Most of the work I do is classical, playing the double bass. I also play musical theater throughout New England. When I am required to play electric bass, I go with my Fender P or Pedula Penta. I don't take the Ricks on those gigs.
So, yes, I'm a pro. But when it comes to my Rickenbackers, I'm a collector.

Erik, you're modest and I think you have a very cool accumulation!

Ex gigging pro for most of my adult life who is desperately trying to be one again, but am extremely limited due to circumstances that are mostly location related. I wouldn't refer to my Ricks(or other brands)to be a collection, as I view them as necessary tools of the trade. For example,I'm not a big strat fan, but own one because nothing else will give you that sound if you need it for a song.

Well... I'm starting to get a few gigs in two different bands. However none of them really feature a Rickenbacker. (Hannibal, my eight string bass seems to be the main weapon at the moment) However I do miss the complex depth of the Rickenbacker tone at times...
As a collector, I have 2 Rickenbackers and have no real plans to get any more (I have 2 that I like and thats enough!)
I kind of hate jamming as my brain waves seem to be out of phase with everyone else's in the jamming world.
I have many instruments but don't collect for collections sake. If it is collectable but plays ****, it goes!
emac.

Jammin' hobbyist in a band of schoolteachers, who collectively play occasional gigs throughout the year. Play on, pick often, jam with Toast(ers)®, and prosper. Regards.....Goofyfoot.

We're an originals band and it's been a year since our last gig simply because we struggle to get gigs because we only play the odd cover (well, that's not the whole story but it's a big part). We live in Cabaretville; it's like waking up in Hell every morning.

Collector. My mission is to get these fine instruments out of the hands of you rough players and your scratchy belt buckles and back into their glass fronted cabinets......where they belong!

Calling myself a gigging pro doesn't feel quite right. I am in a band that has a record deal on an indie label, and we do gig with some regularity (on average twice a month). But it's not my profession; it's more like an avocation that I take very seriously.
I don't think I'm a collector, as I use the Ricks for every live and recording project.
By the way, 8mileshigh, my band's old drummer is from Sidcup. Cheers!

Definitely not a "pro," but have a "gig" every three weeks or so with my church's worship team.... I also write lots of songs, and getting them recorded is an ongoing project.... Definitely a jamming hobbyist--I always love an opportunity to make music with my friends.... And I suppose with about 20 Rics currently residing at my house, I must qualify as a sort of collector, too....
So I guess that makes me all of the above, with the exception of "pro..."

Re-emerging artist here. Too ornery for jamming with strangers. Too broke for collecting; I can barely collect my wits

And my new band isn't out of the nest yet. I just love playing the old songs and writing new ones, and I'm working with my buddies 3-4 times a week. We'll see where it goes... Can I call it a hobby if I don't have a job? Years ago I used to play about 100 gigs a year, for many years.
I have one Rick guitar and, soon, one Rick Bass and consider myself truly blessed.
So what does that make me? An ex-pro has-been wanna-be with a tiny (but cherished) collection?
