I love that guitar. Looks like it's seen some miles, some honkytonks, some blues dives. These are invariably the ones that sound special. You could build a whole mythology around that guitar and no one would ever question it.

Nope just a bbbbaaaaaadddddd fire. The building manager saved the whole building by diving in and out of the room with fire extiguisher after fire extinguisher.

Make it 3 rics, just picked up a 91 330/12 fireglo, with only two small nicks on the lower front edge. It's beautiful!

I'm thinking of making the 330 Jet Glo. How do I start, what do I use? Anyone got any tips? Thanks

"Making" it JG? Sounds more like a refinishing job...and to describe it in enough detail to do the process justice, would take, oh, 50 or 60 pages, single-spaced. Then there are two more issues: investment in tools and materials (prohibitive for one refinish job, to say the least), and the learning curve, which is kind of steep even if you've been using a spray gun for decades.
If you're not concerned about a finish of factory quality like the one I did on Dave Stewart's 360/12, I'd say, "ReRanch" nitrocellulose black in rattle-cans, careful application, and careful buffing. But it will not last like a RIC finish.

Thanks paul, that 360 looks great. I am not so concerned about doing it factory. I've done mostly all the work on both these guitars so I kinda wanna do it myself. the current maple finish is clearly not a pro job so I figure I can't do much worse.

Then get thee to ReRanch or Stew-Mac...pick up some rattle cans, but also pick up a video on refinishing and follow the instructions to a "T". Nitro is very forgiving to spary, but it has to go down onto a near-perfect surface.
Like I tell my students (and many of you have heard this said, too!): Paint does nothing to hide mistakes and bad preparation. But it does a lot to highlight and emphasize them!
Good luck, and post some pics when you're done with it.
