Mr. 700,
I saw The Church in '88 or so at a club in Dallas. They looked so bored I felt they didn't want to be there; nice music anyway!

Here's a pleasant video of two old buddies, Rick and Paul hanging out by their back door. I've noticed Paul and his Daddy don't get a lot of love in the Rick forum, but they can have some from me! Enjoy...

In guitar forums rock is appreciated, jazz as well, and of course the blues. New Wave is something to laugh or scoff at, but few should mock the greatness of Duran Duran and what this band did in the early 80s. The '84 Seven and the Ragged Tiger tour was massive. The only thing bigger at the time was MJ's Thriller. John Taylor's bass playing was fantastic, and I'd love to mimic the style and sound if I could...enjoy, or at least appreciate. I believe Nile Rodgers of Chic fame was the producer. He also had a firm hand in Bowie's Let's Dance.

More power from the time, '79-80's. Peter Hook used his bass playing as a separate and equal melodic instrument, not just as backdrop-bottom instructed to comfort the rest of the music. Greatness from the Nation's point of view.

Mr. jps,
As an educator I'm always eager to learn. I did not know of the imposter, and I appreciate the beginning of my Rick edification; a video with a fake Rick. However, his playing is not.

Peter has mentioned in a couple interviews that his "Rick" was a copy, that is how I learned. 8)

its a Hondo Rickenbacker 4001 bass copy - Used on Joy Division's 1978-1980 recordings and used live with Joy Division around that time.

Here we go...perhaps a bit unorthodox the RIC culture....but one of my favorites nonetheless....

I hope this hasn't been posted before - the best song I can think of featuring a Ric bass
