I'm with the leave it as is crowd on this one. I think it's a masterpiece...yes, even Rev #9. There's something about the variations in songs, their position on the album, that add to the magic for me. While not every track is a favorite Beatles tune for me, it's a case of the whole being more than the sum of its parts.

Interesting... I just acquired a Beatles' bootleg called "Primal Colors" that purports to be something they wanted to release, about six months before the White Album. There are outtakes and alternates and a couple of unreleased songs in development (or just throwaways), so they wouldn't have released it as is, but it seems to be a look into the early development of TWA sessions.

Here's the playlist:
A Case Of The Blues (unreleased Lennon composition with "Glass Onion" and "Walrus" style lyrics)
Honey Pie
Junk
Brian Epstein Blues (another Lennon comp)
Old Brown Shoe
Back In The USSR
Piggies
Birthday
Blackbird
Yer Blues
Mother Nature's Son
Everybody's Got Something To Hide...
Helter Skelter
Child Of Nature (Lennon's early draft lyrics to what would become "Jealous Guy")

This sounds like some of the Get Back session tapes mixed with some of the Esher demo tapes. Child Of Nature is actually a Lennon song, written but unused for the White Album. It was later released with new lyrics as Jealous Guy on the Imagine album.

Yeah, Kris, I've heard most of it on the boots you mentioned. I wonder if this was actually the material that was on front burner at that point in time, early '68.

Child of Nature is clearly fully developed lyrically; it's as you said, another song. Interesting that he would scrap those words, but Jealous Guy has much better lyrics.
