Here's my '01 MIM Jazz (originally fretless, replaced with a mid-80's MIJ neck). Refinished Sonic Blue by Mike Dolan's shop last year. Strung up with big flats (notice a trend? :D). Love this bass when its in good playing shape, but I just can't ever seem to get rid of the dead spots. :(

Since Andy posted a pic of his cool MusicMan StingRay fretless I'll add more MM content.

My black Ermie Ball/MusicMan StingRay5.

So intolerant of this brand, I got another one in Translucent Teal.

That sonic blue is a killer color. The more I look at it, the more I think my 64 Jazz refin might go that way, instead of shell pink...Oh, decisions, decisions....

JB....Your mixing a MIJ AND a MIM? Of course you're going to suffer!

Love those Stingray's Joey. That TT looks real impressive....

Jeff and John -- I was naming what I liked...sorry for confusion.

I own a '62 RI Strat (which I'm trying to sell!) and a Highway 1 Tele. Love the Tele, and it's enough of a 6-string to get me by, and I absolutely love it. The Strat's good too, but the pickup humming is starting to grate on my nerves more than ever right now.

Joey,
what's the big attraction to Musicman basses? I've never played one but pass them over in the stores because I don't care for the body shape and PG and hardware design. I thought my Ripper was ugly too, but I learned to like it just for the tone. Then again I bought my car 'cause it was red.
But what's special about the Musicman basses?

Damn Kira,

I had a Ripper too, my first love! LoL!

Wish I still had it....I love the FRUMPY look of those basses!

I love Musicman basses - especially the Sterling. The Stingray always felt a little "boxy" to me, whereas the Sterling is very streamlined, with a neck like a Jazz (doesn't mean I wouldn't love to have an old one!). They are active basses, Kira - very versatile and NOTHING sounds like 'em! I personally love the egg-shaped pickguard, always did.

Love that pre-Ernie fretless and the Turquoise one!

The StingRay5 doesn't have quite the "boxy" feel that the 4 string SR has, but you do have to like 5 stringers to appreciate the SR5.

Right - the SR5 is sort of a hybrid of the two!
