I had the sound down,never noticed any guitars.
There must be something musical going on but all I saw was this gorgeous little brunette.

Is the Susanna Hoffs Ltd edition available for home visits?

I do find it difficult to look at the instruments...

I saw a movie like that. Once...

Though, according to Paul W in a very old post claimed SH is nothing to look at without her makeup.

Maybe so but I'd rather find that out first hand!

I don't remember where I learned that; I think it was about 18 years ago. A trivia factoid I've retained.

Nesmith wrote the song when he was dating Ronstadt.

Aw, now, that's just not true. She looks amazing, with or without.

For the record, the white/white 350 isn't an SH, per se. It's a prototype, with an unbound neck, dot markers, and no signature. Otherwise, it's pretty much the same as her SH. Both have the Strat-style pickup selector and other wiring mods, such as a master volume.

I love much of her music

But I never really looked at her.

Now that I have, I wonder if her obvious beauty coupled with the model-like poses have hurt or boosted her reception as a musician?

I, for one, find much of that kind of posing a bit detracting, whereas I sure like the music and really like the whole vibe and the Matthew Sweet stuff too.

Its a fine line with pop-oriented music because, after all, it is pop, and pop includes image . . . but somehow I always felt that in the less-overtly mass appeal of the psychedelic market (like the 80s Paisley stuff that Hoffs and band were first associated with) the Pop feel was ironic in some and avoided in others . . .

I think the 80s style was all about a sort of extreme gesture of falseness, as if the 80s New Wave was fashioned because every other style prior to it imagined that theirs was some sort of 'real thing' as 'authenticity' symbolized by a pair of worn jeans, and so people wore the opposite of authenticity as loudly as possible - at least that's how I understood it.
And the New Wave/Paisley blend seemed to be about that sort of acknowledgment.
But part of that acknowledgment is seeing the falseness in glamor and not taking it too seriously except, except for seeing it as a way of hiding certain unavoidable truths. (Warhol)

But to me, photos of beauty taken on the terms of mass expectations of beauty are anything but beautiful, that sort of imagery makes me want to assume that the other productions she is involved with might have the same lack of nuance . . . so, if I'd seen that sort of golden-light beach beauty imagery I wonder if I would have liked the music as much? (I would have but maybe I would not have approached it as easily . . and please don't pretend that image is meaningless)

Anyway, great music, she's is gorgeous, nice guitars, and too many thoughts about aesthetics on my part (what else is new?!)
