We haven't even had one in KC since Quigley Music went out of business. I see the odd used one here and there, but nothing new for a while now. Hopefully someone will step up to fill in the void.

I always forget about them, but since the outlet is so hit or miss on stuff I rarely include them in discussion of who carries what. I did get a smokin' deal on a AVRI Jaguar out there once, but I can count on 1 finger the number of Rics I've seen in there.

I ordered a 4003 MG in Feb. 2007 for $1400 (split into a deposit of $220 and a final of $1180); new 4003s are going for something like $1900-2200*; I will (probably) get loads of new features I didn't anticipate. A thin neck, VTC, and walnut wings sound really good to me. In addition, I'm no sucker for fancy inlays, but FWIs truly are pretty and probably increase the value of the instrument (and I trust RIC makes them out of stuff that doesn't shrink). Even if I hate the bass when I receive it (highly doubtful) I could probably flip it with ease.

So that's my take on my similar situation and I think you'd probably benefit from a like approach.

Oh, OT but... Lawrence, KS is the coolest city in the Midwest, even better than Eureka Springs, AR. So props to you for living there. Hopefully I'll be joining you there in a year if I get into the Ph.D. program I want...




*Or if you go to a certain store in St. Louis, they are probably something like $3000, because a 4003FL JG was going for $2300 there in late 2006. I didn't get to play it either, they said I needed to put a deposit down before I could touch it! But I was welcome to try any of the several 360s they had...

Please do! Because I will need new people to play with... when I interned up there the only thing I found to do was play at the Jazzhaus on Mondays during the jazz jam.

Refreshing an old thread here...I just got a call from Jim Rhoads. He was calling his customers up to make sure which ones were cancelling their orders due to the current economic situation.

I told him I was still in. Still no idea when the next batch of 360/12s will ship out. But since there has been a shipment of 4004Cii models, can it be much longer?

I wish that were true but it's not. However, dealer inventories may be growing somewhat if they have customers who are backing out of deals but we've had no cancellations and there's many new orders coming in, so, if anything, the backlog has actually grown a bit.

We have no way to know where anyone stands with their dealer but many older orders for these will be cleared out by then.
