Nothing original. Yep, i want to learn to play bass, too. But for a different reason. I hope it may cure my morbid interest for bass players.
Then, as a listener, i'm planning to get rid of all my "non-serious" records and start listening to serious, "real" music. Not.

Nothing will get you dead quicker than being deadly serious about yourself.

Tweak up some of the many recordings I've worked on in the last couple of years and actually release a real CD.... And maybe find a venue where I can gig regularly so that I actually have a chance of selling one, LOL!
....And spend less time at the computer.

I can say I'm happy about some new things that happened right before the New Year. I picked up a lot of jazz gigs to fill the vacuum that opened when my band fell apart. I got recordings of some of these gigs a week ago and it sounded really sweet. I may be joining a zydeco group as tuba and bass player as well. I have been freely invited to join in on the blues circuit that I dropped out of a couple of years ago (due to lack of time) and am very happy about this. I also just bought a Washburn jazz box for recording guitar parts which is exciting.

Master my newly aquired Guitorgan (and getting there already!)
Re: What are your new musical pursuits for '09?
You should really make a youtube video of the guitorgan! Maybe at the next confluence we can have a Vox organ/Guitorgan duel.collin wrote:Master my newly aquired Guitorgan (and getting there already!)

Those are really cool sounding instruments.jps wrote:I have been thinking of getting and learning to play the bouzouki, but I am waiting for RIC to make one.
I'm hoping to learn to play bass with my feet, get a drum machine, and be my own power trio

We used to see a musician that did play bass with his feet! I can't remember if he hung out at Venice Beach or Redondo Beach, it was one of those two places.whojamfan wrote:Those are really cool sounding instruments.jps wrote:I have been thinking of getting and learning to play the bouzouki, but I am waiting for RIC to make one.
