That's real sad, and the guy has the b**ls to put in under the Christmas tree too!
Our luthiers could make it live again, but it wouldn't be cheap. Those necks however, are to die for, playing wise....

The seller did - it's listed as a '68.
Good point, John...now I'd like to know how he came to that conclusion? I sent the seller that question but no reply just yet. I see nothing on the bass to indicate 1968. Clearly it's pre-'72 with no stripe, but unless the curvature of the neck is a clue, I don't get it.
Wints, or Vince Gallo or anyone else, do you see why it's a '68?

In the meantime I'll post the seller's answer here, when he does, if anyone's interested.

Me to seller: "How is it known that the year of manufacture of the bass is 1968?"
Seller's reply: "By the pots dated 3279 137.6808 on same bass, these dont include on bidding. Regards!!!"
Interesting.

Or, maybe not.

Those 6808 pot codes came with my Feb 69, and are on Teeders too IIRC. Probably on my Dec 68 as well if I opened it up, but in 7 years I haven't...
It does have the classic 60's guard "air screw" in the main cavity!

Poor thing!
I would have liked to get the fretboard, but not for that kind of money.
So sad!

Yep. It does have the longer '60's peghead, too.

Looks like that one was used as the center piece of a fountain for a decade.
