+1
Brian, is the gold guard from Tony @ pickguardian?
Looks cool on the JG...
The bass came that way to me courtesy of another forum member. It has a gold TRC as well. It would not surprise me at all if Tony did indeed do the work.

I have all the white plastic as well but I also like the look of the gold.

That's how they were made, Ken. Like the Blackstar, Redneck, and Tuxedo it has a maple fretboard finished to match the body, and microdot position markers.

Me likey!

Wait a minute. Which are we talking about? The "Blackened" Laredo that Brian shows was custom refinished including the black fretboard, so it ain't "how they were made." I think it may have been a maple fretboard to begin with, but don't remember exactly.

Man, whenever I see black Ricks, I think "Wow, I need one of those!" There are some excellent examples here! Weird that I've never owned one, I guess I always get drawn away towards some nice looking wood grain...

I think he's referring to Jeff's Glen Frey.

BTW......my Laredo is a 2005 with bubinga fretboard.

Isn't Jeff talking about his own bass -that Glenn Frey?
That's how I read it...
