According to Chris on the FOOW DVD, he states that the Telecaster Bass was used for Lucky Seven, then "lost" and recently recovered.

Does this look thinned out to you?
I can't say for sure if it looks thinned or not, but the jack plate looks off centre.

I think "Lucky 7" was a Rick with flatwound strings. A long time ago, I had the RIC flatwound bass strings on a 4001. Played with a pick, I could easily get that exact tone.

Thank you Ronn and Ron. You just answered a question I formed on the way back to work from supper. I saw a new Ford SUV and it looked like SquireGlo and seeing these pictures I believe it is very close.

I found out about the 4001CS model sometime in 1996 and figured if it came out in 1991 and they only made 1000 they'd be long gone. Little did I know. What a moron....

My FG 4001v63. I have another vintage style case, but I'm saving it for when Paul W. refinishes my 4003S.

Rickenbacker made a "Chris Squire signature" version, where they weighed my bass, used the same wood, made it the same colour...everything about it was identical. The pickup parameters came from measuring the electronic output..
Are the pu's actually different than the V63's? Has anyone measured then to compare?
The pu's in my '92 V63 are a little to much on the hot side, IMO. I'm sure that has some bearing on why the reissues didn't sound like the original.

I never measured mine, but the pickups were defintely hotter to my ears. This is the bass Rick should replace the C64 with: RM 1999 in any colour, including cream. Although I loved mine and gigged a lot with it, its sale helped finance my dream guitar of a '60s 365 OS.

As for the production year I have noticed that lots of times it is mentioned that the production started in 1991. I have the #5 in the series and it is from December 1990.

Mine is number 15 and it sounds awesome. I used it in my Yes tribute band from 1998-2001 and there is still not a scratch on it.

You must polish the heck out of it and wear/wore yellow shirts when playing it.
