Hey J_gary

Wow, you got the complete stack? How cool is that?! I could only afford the head
and hopefully one day I'll find a cab or two.

I know this is a foolish question but: how do you like it? I'll bet there's nothing
that can rearrange furniture better than your rig!

Cheers!

Joe

You know what I'm envious of?? The pickup placement! Why RIC doesn't do 4004s like that all the time I do not know, especially the mid and bridge pickups. Sure, I played a stock 4004Cii and it sounded great... but I know, especially from playing Scott's 4002, that I'd love the way these LKs would sound thanks to the placement.

I think the neck pickup needs to be right up against the fingerboard with the new 4004's so that it hides the truss rod channels. If the bridge pickup was very close to the bridge you'd have the 4005 pickup configuration - the sound difference between the two might be a bit much for many folks (I think its fine!) and there would be a lot of space between the pickups. This might affect playability for those who need a pickup to anchor their thumb when playing. Also I think RIC has placed the bridge pickup in the same local as the 4003 to make it an easier transition for 4003 players. That being said Joshua, I totally agree with you that three pickups would give you a greater pallet of tones, especially if you had one close to the bridge to give that tight midrange "jazz" tone.

That's why I love the V/V/V/T mod. Many times I still play with all controls on full for my "go to" tone but being able to dial in each p/u individually really opens up the options.....and they are options that I'm going to more and more. Well worth the sacrifice of modding my LK.

Wow.
First impression: 'Cool'. Never heard of that one (I pictured the maple glo 4003 (like mine was) from the videos.

Second impression: Yikes! That is gaudy! Pimp My Bass' Totally, Fer sure....

Third impression: 'Gaudy, like a1958 Cadillac - but cool in that way...' I would love to play one!
:P

I told Lemmysaid basically the same thing , that it was a bit over the top, gilding the lily, sorta like a hooker overloaded with lace and gold jewelery.

He said "And that's bad, how?"

That is to complement his boots I guess. They are over the top too (in Lemmy the Movie there is an interview with his bootmaker where you can see several off his designs).

But they suit him fine. ;-)
