OH MY GOD!!! That 1993/12 reissue is beautiful! Don't you also have a 360/12V64 with f-hole in MG (that John Biscuti longs after), too?

Woodie wrote:This is one of 12 (6-12's, 6-6's) made as a special order for Sam Ash in 1987. They're usually referred to as the Jimmy D specials, after the salesman that ordered them. You can read more about these at Bjorn's website. At "The 1993 Inventory" page there's a link to an article by Bob Belloff about these. I have a matching 1993 also.

Alan, thanks for the info. I am learning something new every 5 minutes or so. (The challenge is to remember it all!)
Those are two beautiful guitars!

That's just drop dead gorgeous. I'd be really spoiled to own one like that, well, there's no charge for wishing ...

Woodie, I got some info about the Wilco guitar from a very credible source, I'll shoot you an email about it. I still want to buy it BTW, name your price.

Thank you all for your appreciative comments.
JB, I'd love to learn more about the Wilco guitar, so I'll look forward to your email. If I should ever decide to sell it, you have first dibs. By the way, I chnaged the pickguards/trc out to white, and put the gold ones in the case. I think it looks better, but I'll let you guys decide when I post some pics.

Thanks, John. I have NO idea why Rickenbacker won't do these again, even as a special order. Maybe if the Japanese market got interested...

Someone could make a boatload of money if they figured out how to make a kit to seamlessly convert a slash sound hole to an "F" hole. I know, fantasy . . .
But here's an idea. Instead of the "COY" concept, RIC should do a "MOY" (mod of the year) and make the 330 6 and 12 string models available with an "F" hole instead of a slash hole in 2010. Standard colors only.
I have no concept of what this would require of the RIC factory in terms of retooling, etc. But I beleive there may very well be an increase in order flow with no fussing about with oddball color schemes.
Of course, the counter to this proposal would be that the "F" hole models should be done with all vintage specs, so it would end up being impractical. My response -- just take orders for another reissue run of 1997SPCs, 6's and 12's. WIth the new FG treatment, these would be tres cool.
Easy for me to say!
