Not really as big a deal as it may appear to be. Should some person you don't want anything to do with sends you a friend request or adds you as one, you can immediately block this person from your profile and it's a done deal. Much better than actually running in to them in person, because the extent of your action is just a keystroke.

I run in to a few like that sometimes, and they are gone as quick as they came.

FB is a good way to talk about many different things that don't fall under the specifics or rules of forums. Not meaning rude or hatefull things, it just opens a dialogue that you would be generally unable to have otherwise. While this can get wierd sometimes, generally it is quite fun. I talk with several of the members here, and it's nice to not have to mind what I say subject matter wise, and to be able to talk about non "Rick" issues. This has strengthened friendships I have made here, and allowed me to keep touch with old friends worldwide without expensive phone calls. I have also met other Rick enthusiasts worldwide I've never seen on the forum.

For music, it's great too, you can promote your bands for free, and more "different" kinds of people get exposed to your music. If you are selling CDs or merch, here is a free place to do that, and people are more willing to buy it just because they know you. When you do a gig, many of these folks will come see you, and having many people in different places, can get more fans to your venues for free!

I used to think I would never care what this idiot or that dipstick from High School ended up doing, but I must say, I have rekindled some friendships I had back when I was just a "semi-normal" kid, and it's interesting to see the cute little girl who sat next to me in grade school has made a killing in psychotherapy. Somehow, I'd like to think I was the inspiration for that-haha.

I agree, Mike.... Facebook is an interesting site, and a lot of fun--I just started getting into it in the last 6 weeks or so, and have reconnected with a few old friends I haven't heard from in years, and also have gotten to know some of my RRF friends a little better through the different venue.

What's the link to your profile, Matt? I did the Friend Finder thingy, but there are too many Matt Bowling's out there!

Kira, can you suggest him as a friend to me?
