I don't know if he played any guitar or bass, but he did record with Sir Paul McCartney.

"Ebony and Ivory"....good song though a bit cheezy. :)

"The Girl is Mine"....not so good imo. ;)
Ebony and ivory wasent Micheal Jackson, that was Macca and Stevie Wonder. The girl is mine and SAY SAY SAY was Macca and Micheal.
DOH! Thanks! My bad! Guess that's why I like "Ebony and Ivory" better than the other two. :) "Innervisions" is one of my favorite albums.

I'm stunned.

A true 20th century icon. The biggest star/entertainer in music since the Beatles. The most famous person in the world for the last 25 years. A musical legacy that shapes where contemporary music is today, because of his crossover factor. Thriller made MTV and the music video.

Like most true genuis, flawed, but his musical contribution is there with the true greats.

Had not Sir Paul always felt that MJ had pulled a fast-one on him, by out-bidding Sir Paul himself for the L-M catalogue ?

Not sure, but had heard much of MJ's ownership had fallen into the hands of Sony/ATV.
I just saw a crawler on the bottom of my news channel screen that said that MJ left all the rights to the Beatles' songs to Paul McCartney! So, I know there was some bad blood between them when he bought the rights- hopefully this will heal that rift...though too late.

Totally shocked by the news, I'd heard rumours of his ill health but this was very unexpected. RIP :(

I'd call it a partial restoration.

Even if that's true about the Beatles songs, which I hope it is, I'm not sure it would be that clean and easy.

I think I remember hearing Mr. Jackson mounted up some serious debt in his later years.

Real serious. He leveraged everything, including some of his own material. It will be a long legal process before someone winds up owning Jackson's stake in the Beatles catalog.
