I read this thread with great trainspotting enthusiasm. "The Jam - Video Snap!" released in 1983 included all of their videos with Paul playing a dizzying selection of Rickys. Said videos are on "The Complete Jam" DVD released in 2002.

All Mod Cons was released in October `78, so the tour date would have been after that.

Scotty - it's not that one mate, there are 21 frets on that one. It is reported in Sound-on-Sound magazine that the 21 fret BG was broken at the This Is The Modern World recording sessions in '77. The one in Ian's post has 24 frets -
Without stickers ('77, possibly early '78 judging by the matching black suits).

With stickers on the All Mod Cons (Apocalypse) tour.

Was the broken one later repaired and used in videos or something? formerly I thought it was the JG guitar had been broken and then refinished as the "WHAM" guitar, but obviously that's not the case.

I don't know if the 21 fret BG was repaired (it was reported to have been thrown across the studio because of tuning issues), but I haven't seen it in any pics later than '77.
Weller had (at least) 3 JG 330s - In a 1981 Paris gig he used two, one with white plastic with a "W" between the PUPs and one with black plastic and a "P" between the PUPs. The "P" progressed to a hard tail and severe weathering . The Lichtenstein "Whaam!" artwork is also based on a JG and first appeared around the same time as "Start!" in 1980.
There were also (at least) two FGs - a 21 fret etched with "I am nobody" (with GG) and the 24 fret "The Boys" sticker used on the cover of all mod cons.
