That's better than six wives and one Rick!

I think having the six Ricks is a lot more affordable than the alternative !!!

OK boys and girls...anyone booked hotel rooms yet? Is there any kind of official flop house for the event yet? Are the vending machines well stocked with chips and pretzels?

I'm looking at the Courtyard Anaheim maybe...although I could just stay up in Ontario where I'll be spending the following week...

Best Western Airport for me. Good rate, hopefully no fleas.

Are there any places to eat near the theater? Do we have in & out priviledges at the venue?

Does Charlie's Chili still exist on the pier at Newport Beach? I also seem to remember a bar called the Beach Ball near there (1973-74).

I will list or link to good places to eat near the Yost soon.

Just letting everyone know that even if you are new to the forum, as long as you appreciate RIC instuments, you are very welcome to come to the event. Don't feel out of place. We are a very welcoming and friendly group of people! :)

Is there an age limit for the show?

I will most likely be there (I've still gotta pay Gary for LAST year's Con)!

I have a gig the previous weekend in Corona (I'm HOPING it's the previous weekend and NOT the same weekend).

I can bring a few things that might be interesting.

I don't think there is an age limit for the show. As long as children are well supervised or just know better not to grab the guitars, there shouldn't be any problem.
Let me know definitely what Ricks that you are bringing soon please. :)

I don't know if anyone was watching when this happened, but when Rickenbacker opened up to the public and gave guided tours for the 75th Annie, there were a couple of rug rats in the "museum" swinging their hands across the strings on all of the guitars and basses hanging within their reach as they ran buy them. Their parents could not have been any less concerned only a few feet away. My wife wanted to put her foot out and trip them, but knew they might fall into the guitars. If anything like that takes place on the 22nd, Santa Ana will get it's first child astronaut.

Hmmm ... I think Dane has raised a valid point about some parents not doing their "parenting" job :( when they get distracted and it could put lot's of valuable instruments at risk for damage. :x

There's no use crying over spilled milk - but if a 40+ year old irreplaceable Rick got knocked over, that would sure dampen the spirit of the Confluence.

The other thing to consider is that since SCARF is advertised to the general public ---- once we open the door outside of the Forum, we don't know who is coming and how responsible they may be as parents. Something to consider ...

I hope kids are not banned, however.
My plan is to bring my wife and kid (age 6). She knows and respects guitars.

Have to bring the wife, it's our anniversary.

On the other hand, Jerry's daughter was well mannered, shy and attentive when a few of us got together over at Charly G's for a mini confluence a couple years ago. My basses will be plugged into the nearest 220V power supply behind a water trough and a picture of Ready Killowatt shaking his finger just in case

Jerry's daughter was also at SCARF '05, she was well mannered, shy and attentive then as well.

Neighboring restaurants:
Memphis http://www.memphiscafe.com
The Crosby http://www.thisisthecrosby.com
Lola Gasbar http://www.yelp.com/biz/lola-gaspar-santa-ana
Original Mike’s http://www.originalmikes.com

Everyone should be given a wrist band and most likely also a name badge, so in & out priviledges should not be a problem at the venue.

Actually I doubt they'd hang around in a room full of boring old guitars anyway, so I'd be more or less solo anyhows.

I'll let my daughter know she has a couple of positive character references! :D

Just to update what I had said in this post, everyone that attends will definitely get a wristband.

Are we tagging the guitars & basses with the Owner's name ... to help prevent them going "in and out" without their owner.
