Thanks Scott, it was a pleasure to meet you as well, yeah I was there to pick the v63 up and drop off my 75 jazz bass to have Chris do his magic to , Chris does amazing work on all my basses, gets where I like them, dont know what I would do without him, he is truely a godsend and a very dear friend, finally got to put the V63 though the paces tonight and wow she blew me away, she DR's on them which I really dont care for so today put a set of Dean Markley blue steel Med Lt's on her and man did she sing, always wanted a V63 and now know why, this bass is unbeliveable I am really happy with this score, my hats off to Mr Hall and the Rickenbacker corp.I love my C64 but hands down this bass blows my C64 out of the water both tone and output wise. gonna have to have the cap bypassed on my C64, the horseshoe on the V63 is extremly hot, plus the toaster is hotter on the V63 than the one on my C64, Thanks to Chris for accessing one for me to get, he's the man.well take good care and most of all, please, please, please, stay safe always, look forward to running into you at P O T R again sometime.

Sounds like you've discovered something that's been known to this forum for years, Angelo. Bypassing the cap is good! There seems to be some resistance to altering a Rick bass in this way. But then when you hear it...BAM!!...Get that cap outta there!!

The cap in my C64S lasted about 2 hours before I couldn't take it any longer!

Couldn't agree with you more Angelo. Chris dialed in my '78 like it's never been dialed in before. And I'm sure he's doing the same to the C64. I'm also having him put the bypass mod in but having him reverse it so it's stock in / bypassed out. Hopefully be ready this Saturday.

Wish you hadn't told me about that V63 - I have no buyer's remorse on the C64 but now I want another bass

Glad to hear the v63 went to a good home! I bought that bass new from Manny's in Nov 1998 and always cherished it. Loved the sound, and the look of it. Having been used to 4001s and 4003s, I never got used to the way in which the horseshoe structured my playing though, and I often thought about taking the cover off or swapping it out for a high-gain. But I never wanted to alter that bass, so I didn't. In the 11 years I had it, the only thing I ever needed to do was adjust the truss rod a couple of times (switching from Rick strings to Rotosound and back). I also raised the neck pickup as high as it would go.

Anyway, one day I was at POTR and fell head over heels with a Mapleglo 4004L. Talked to Chris after thinking about that Laredo for a few weeks and we worked out a deal. I have to tell you, I love this bass! I'm still getting used to the HB1 humbuckers, but it's another great bass from Rickenbacker.

Hello, how are you, yes I know the mapleglo Larado your speaking of, yes it was a beauty, if I didnt have the midnight blue one I gor from Chris back in may, I would have centainly went after that one,they are great basses, I love mine too, and the V63 is a dream bass of mine, I absolutely love it, I changed out the strings from the DR'S to Dean markley blue steel medlts, the hoseshoe on her really kicks, will cherish this bass just as you did, you have my word on it, well wish you all the best with your new Larado, take good care and please stay safe always.
