Gary, I thought you also had a 4000FL from about '75.
Of course I do, but the title of the thread says " ... 4001FL /4003FL Count" so I didn't include the 4000FL BG. I tend to to take things literally ... so please don't tell me, "Go jump in the lake!" :D

LOL, SORRY GARY....I totally FORGOT about the 4000....no offense :? !

PLEASE feel free to post......Don't forgot those RARE "S" FL's too guys....

What I like about this thread and other recent threads is that it has encouraged a lot of people to share recordings. I think that is great... It really strengthens the artist/musician side of the community here. It also gives the 4003FL a real voice. It's easy to completely ignore what a bunch of devoted acolytes will say about their beloved bass, but the music made with that bass can be used to speak to anyone. Good stuff.

It STILL has the ORIGINAL black RIC flat wound strings on it and it SOUNDS & PLAYS AMAZING.
My 4003SFL is a also '92. Sweet neck on that one. And I have a set of black RIC tapewounds ready to go on it too! Are the black RIC strings on yours tapewound, or were there other black RIC strings that I didn't know about?

I won't answer the question for Tony since it's directed to him, but I will tell you that they sound REALLY SWEET on his 4003FL. I got to play that 4003FL at MARF when it was still Jdog's and after Tony acquired it at SERF. NICE!!

Tony, you keep referring to your fretless, but where are the pics? I say you're a big phony.
Ah, Joshua...what can I say?? I've always been shy about posting pics of my basses.
Nice bajo. By the way, I hope you know I was kidding around with you. :)

Hey Jeff,

I assume they are the tape wounds. They were available in the old RED box RIC once sold them with. I don't know what other strings they made from that time, but they feel like they have an almost rubber coating on them.

The RIC outlet was selling them a while ago on Ebay. I wish they would sell some more, I'd love to get another set.

They sound amazing.

Hey Joshua, LOL, of course....Joey just LOVES to ASSIST in trying to get me to post pictures!

FORGET recordings! LOL, I've never even used a pedal, more or less trying to figure out how to try to hook up a bass to a computer and make a recording! :? :? :? :? :?

Indeed. I have not shared any of my truly polished recordings from GB here--most of what I have done that I've shared here took only as long as I needed to play the parts! GarageBand rules for getting out ideas quickly.

Oh man, I' love to get a set of those for either of my FL's!!

Joshua, we have to remind T where the attachment button is!!

C'mon everyone, check in with your fretless Rick if you have one. There has to be a least a couple more amongst the forumites and forum lurkers. Now would be a good time for a long time lurker with an FL to check in!

I'm sure there are several that we'll never hear about... But I agree, I hope we get a lot more participation in this.
