Somebody on L.A.'s Craig's List is selling a PURPLE TOLEX Vox AC-30 TBX made in the England factory - not China.

The amp is definitely overpriced, particularly if it hasn't been modded/upgraded. I hate how he says that the amp is not "made in some Chinese sweatshop", too. I assume everyone here knows that the Vox factory in China is state-of-the-art, and the amps are designed and made better than the TBXs of old? I hope so...obviously he doesn't. Or at least he wants the buyer to believe as much.

Fwiw, I recovered one of my CC2s in purple basketweave tolex. It shows up from time to time on ebay, or you can search the net for sources. I also did the same for a CC2 in red basketweave tolex. I'd recommend doing the same to anyone who wants a different colored amp. I do have an original fawn TBX to complete the trio of colors from that era--but it's the noisiest amp of the bunch for sure.

...and you procured the Tolex from?....

Got the purple on ebay. Got the original red while it was still in stock from a cabinet builder I use. The red is currently in production again after being out of stock for quite a while. Just go to Mojotone and search.

Not off topic at all Rich - but I picked one up a few months back in purple, for a lot less than this one.

I too have a small stash of the purple tolex. Probably enough to cover a head.

If I like it, maybe I'll find out where he had it made and get some done in canary yellow or Daphne blue or something.
