The SVT-CL is a totally different design than the early amps, especially those from the '60 through early '80s. AmpegBob can most certainly provide more details.

I'm not at home right now to check, but I'm pretty sure my SVT-CL was made in 2006. It was made in the US and looks identical to this one:

Yes, we are exactly on the same boat. Mine is a 2006 USA too, one of the last USA available from my local music store.

Mattia, I sent the schematics; make sure the amp was properly rewired for 220VAC.

Ok i'll make sure of it in someways.

Just one more questions : are the CLs for the Europe Market builded with the 220AC schematic or all the European Head are converted after being builded ?

Just to throw in my take - My guitarist made me think that the SVT was the only amp a bassist should own. At the time we weren't gigging but, I sold my Markbass combo, and bought an SVT CL and 6x10 cab. It sounded nice, but the head made a lot of noise when I turned it on. Fan and whatever. One day I just took a look at it and decided if I ever had to take it to a gig,my back would break. Sold that sucker but quick. Made a profit on it selling it to GC if you can believe that.

I then went and bought a Markbass Little Mark II. Already in my possession was a GK 210T cab. Loved it at home, and last week, I had not only the opportunity to gig with it, but I let the other bands use it as well. Everyone was of the loud punk, hardcore, thrash variety. While it didn't look like much on stage, I'd like to see the SVT that would have sounded better that night, because I don't think it exists.

Yesterday, I brought Mr Little Mark and Mr 210T their own amp stand, not because they need it, but because they deserve it for the sound they deliver.

PS - the Markbass head fits in my gig bag. Let's see an SVT do THAT!

Apologies, edits made. Rest assured though, it's the last time I listen to a guitarist's advice on my sound.

Okay, not to bash MB but I thought I'd provide another side of the coin: I had a MarkBass CMD 121 that I brought with me to RIO. (http://www.markbass.it/products.php?lin ... =3&vedi=41)

I bought it because I was impressed with it's volume to weight ratio and I thought it sounded good.

While it was set up at RIO people were playing with it and comparing it to one of the smaller Ampeg combos that was also there. I walked in the room and stood listening to someone play through it for a moment, when another forumite (name withheld) who didn't know the MB belonged to me leaned over to me and said something to the effect of: "I don't like the tone at all from that MarkBass. It sounds 'digitized' or something. And it's hissing like crazy." So I turned the treble down and the hissing lessened. But those comments stuck with me, because I already thought the same thing. A few weeks later, my CMD 121 shorted out so I brought it to GC and exchanged it for a MB F1 head. But the F1 head has the same characteristics. Something about its tone just sounds processed to me. And it doesn't get that nice glassy high end like my Ampegs do. I can get a pretty good high end out of it, but with it comes the hiss. Turn down the treble and I lose the hiss and my high end.

So again, as always it's one of those things where YMMV. I use round wound strings and I like to hear the high end as well as the lows and mids. The constant hissing of my MB bugs me. Maybe some of you MB guys who prefer flats (I'm pretty sure Marc, Jeff S, and Steve W do) turn the treble down and don't have that same issue, I don't know. But for me, my Ampegs do a better job of reproducing the sound I hear when I play my Ricks acoustically.

I usually have the EQ flat on my F1, and only occasionally turn the VPF up to around the 9:00 position. The VLE is kept off unless I want a rolled off tone. No excessive hiss here. :?

No excessive hiss here either, and I usually have the high mids and treble turned up to give more definition to the sound of flats.

well...your guitarist was wrong...a bassist should have two svts ! like me !   8) :D

forget this svt cl stuff, may be a good amp in it's own right but is not an original. find someone with an original svt...you'll not be disappointed with that tone !

Oh, I could get an SVT in a gig bag, but would the bag hold, that's the real question.
