Well, I dropped the hammer on the Farndurk Burgs compressor, a clone of the Dan Armstrong Orange Squeezer circuit. I should have it in a couple of weeks, so I'll let you know how she stacks up against the others I've used.

I heard the Byrdbox at NAMM, it sounds pretty nice.

Rob, I haven't really had much experience hearing the Janglebox.

You're obviously not playing it correctly.

And now for the verdict...

The Janglebox JB2 nails the classic Byrds guitar sound better than any other compressor I've tried. It chimes, it rings, it shimmers, and it sings--all of this routed directly into an inexpensive Fender solid state Princeton Chorus amp. The pedal is totally quiet (not a hint of hum or hiss) and when you turn it on, it literally transforms the guitar sound. The controls are easy to tweak and the instruction manual is clear and concise. Unlike the original Janglebox, it takes a standard adapter (like a One Spot). My only complaints are that the pedal is on the expensive side and that it's a bit large for a pedal board (although the latter was probably intentional, to make the controls easier to adjust on the fly). If you're looking for the ultimate Rickenbacker 12-string tone, you simply can't do better.

I would love to find out how the JB2 sounds for direct recording (those clips on the website sound lovely). Also, I thought I might route it into my Boss GT-3 multi-effects unit, but the JB2 sounds so good already that it doesn't need any assistance.

After months of experimenting, I've finally found the right compressor. Thanks everyone for your feedback and suggestions.

First post here.........I set up my 360/12 today with a fresh set of strings. I plugged into a Keely comp hooked into a Tube Tape echo and into a 67 Marshall JTM 50 watt amp. It sounded great although the tone controls on the 64 Rick were pretty scratchy. My recorded guitar sounds just like I wanted!!!!!!!!!!

The Keeley is a great Ross type compressor. I've had mine for two years now, use it frequently. Brian @ Farndurk told me he's shipping my Burgs (Orange Squeezer type) this week. Looking forward to A/B-ing the two.
